Sudan Welcomes U.S. Statements on Extending the Opening of Adre Border Crossing

Sudanese Foreign Minister Dr Ali Youssef welcomed statements made by both U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller and U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan Tom Perriello regarding the decision to extend the delivery of humanitarian aid through the Adre border crossing.
The Minister added that these statements represent a positive development in the official U.S. stance, saying, “We look forward to further progress in this position after the new U.S. administration takes office in January,” as reported by the Sudan News Agency.
The Minister reaffirmed the continuation of dialogue with the U.S. administration both in Sudan and in Washington to achieve greater mutual understanding regarding the situation in Sudan under the new administration. He reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering humanitarian aid across Sudan.
U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller welcomed the Sovereign Council’s decision to extend the period for delivering humanitarian aid through the Adre border crossing. He also acknowledged prior government decisions allowing aid-bearing planes to land at Dongola and South Kordofan airports. At the same time, U.S. Envoy Tom Perriello described the decision as an essential step toward expediting the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict.
