The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed “the Kingdom’s rejection of any illegal steps or measures taken outside the framework of Sudan’s official institutions that may undermine its unity and do not reflect the will of its people.”
In a statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Foreign Ministry reiterated its rejection of the formation of a parallel government, affirming the Kingdom’s steadfast position in supporting the Republic of Sudan, its security, stability, and territorial integrity. This comes in response to the political charter recently signed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its political allies.
The Kingdom called on Sudanese parties to prioritise Sudan’s interests over any factional interests and to work towards sparing the country the risks of division and chaos. It reaffirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to end the war in Sudan and achieve peace in line with the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11, 2023.
Earlier, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated its firm and supportive stance towards Sudan and its brotherly people to overcome the current crisis and reach a sustainable political solution that spares the country from the ravages of war.
Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, highlighted before the Human Rights Council on Thursday the importance of the significant efforts led by Saudi Arabia to resolve the crisis. He noted that the Kingdom, in cooperation with the United States, hosted the warring parties in Sudan for the Jeddah talks, which aimed to achieve commitments to protect civilians, cease hostilities, and find a political solution that preserves Sudan’s security and stability, ensures the cohesion of the state and its institutions, and prevents its collapse.
