Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohiuddin Naeem, stated that Sudan’s pivot towards Russia and China to foster mutual interests and strengthen partnerships with these major powers supports Sudan’s position in international forums and encourages their alignment with Sudan to protect their interests in the country.
The minister made these remarks during his visit to the Sudanese Embassy in Moscow on Friday. He commended the embassy’s efforts in making this visit successful and enhancing Sudan-Russian relations.
Addressing an assembly of diplomats, military attachés, and administrative staff, Dr Naeem emphasized the strategic partnership with Russia and the need to develop the oil, gas, and electricity sectors alongside other economic aspects. He asserted that despite the war and its high costs, Sudan is in a strong position. He highlighted the cohesion of the Sudanese Armed Forces with other regular forces, which successfully dismantled four generations of rebel factions. He expressed optimism that the country is moving confidently in the right direction after achieving unity in its ranks.
Sudanese Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Al-Ghazali, underscored the significance of this visit, describing it as a major step forward for Sudanese-Russian relations after a prolonged hiatus. He affirmed the embassy’s efforts to strengthen ties between the two nations through joint investments, benefiting both peoples, particularly in strategic and economic areas. He emphasized the need to focus on energy, oil, and gas projects during this critical phase.
It is noteworthy that a technical delegation specializing in energy and oil, led by the Minister of Energy and Oil, is currently visiting Russia to contribute to rebuilding Sudan after the destruction caused by the terrorist rebel militias.
