Launch of the Third Campaign to Combat Disease Vectors in River Nile State

The Governor of River Nile State, Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid, and the Federal Minister of Health, Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, on Sunday in Al-Damer launched the national campaign to combat disease vectors.
The governor stressed that health is a collective responsibility that requires community participation, calling on the mining sector and popular resistance groups to support these efforts. He also announced the start of aerial spraying campaigns for ten days, with the state committed to continuing efforts until the outbreak is eliminated.
In recent weeks, River Nile State has recorded a rising number of dengue fever cases.
According to Ministry of Health statistics announced last Thursday, 108 new dengue cases were recorded, bringing the cumulative total to 6,304 cases, while the cumulative number of deaths reached 12.
The Federal Minister of Health praised the working staff, announcing the end of the cholera outbreak in the country. He also noted the launch of the national campaign in Khartoum and Al-Jazira, and its ongoing implementation in the localities of Shendi and Atbara in River Nile State since yesterday.
He explained that the campaign will continue for three weeks with active community participation, revealing that the spraying vehicles provided are a gift from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces as part of the response project.
In the same context, the State Minister of Health affirmed the continuation of efforts to intensify work in areas affected by dengue fever. Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Al-Damer locality, Abdelbasit Mohamed Al-Amin, pointed to the locality’s readiness to cover seven administrative units within this campaign, reflecting the state government’s commitment to citizens’ health.
