A senior diplomatic source told Sudanhorizon news website, that the session will listen to the periodic report of the International Criminal Court on developments in the situation in the Darfur region.
According to Sudanhorizon sources, the Sudan permanent Mission in New York will participate in the session, and Sudan representative United Nations, ambassador Al-Harith Idris, will brief the Council in response to the report of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, and will also present the council with the latest developments in Darfur region including the violations and crimes against humanity committed by the rebel Rapid Support Militia in Darfur and other regions of the country.
A human rights source, speaking to Sudanhorizon last week, expected that the ICC prosecutor’s report would include a briefing about the humanitarian situation in Darfur, the military and security situation, and the impacts on the conditions of civilians and the continued suffering of people in securing basic services. In addition, the report is expected to shed light on the repeated violations against civilians in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, especially the violations committed by the militia against IDPs camps, as well as the continued shelling and bombardment of Al Fashir, disregarding warnings by international and regional organizations
