Hope Committee: 1,200 Sudanese to Return from Cairo via Two Routes

Cairo – Sudanhorizon

The Chairman of the Hope Committee for the Return of Sudanese from Egypt, Mohamed Wadaa, announced on Saturday that a departure trip for returnees is scheduled for Sunday via train from Ramses Station in Cairo.

Wadaa explained that the second trip will depart by ferry on Monday morning. After reaching the Dam Station, the journey will split into two routes. A total of 600 passengers arriving by train will transfer to the ferry and continue to Wadi Halfa, before completing their journey to Khartoum by bus. The other 600 passengers will travel directly from the Dam Station to Wadi Halfa by bus and then continue onward to Khartoum by bus.

According to the initiative’s press office, the introduction of train and ferry services represents a significant enhancement to the ongoing voluntary return operations that have so far relied on buses.

The committee also emphasized the importance of adhering to the baggage allowance specified for each passenger and printed on the free voluntary return ticket. This is intended to ensure that the buses waiting in Wadi Halfa can accommodate passengers’ luggage within the announced limits, as has been the case since the launch of the repatriation program.

The committee stressed that it will not be responsible for transporting any baggage exceeding the buses’ carrying capacity from Wadi Halfa to the final destinations of the return journeys.
