Dossier of Dinder Open Park Borders’ Dispute Submitted to Minister of Justice

Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Darf held a meeting on Thursday with a delegation from the Blue Nile region, led by Governor Ahmed Al-Umda Badi.

The delegation accompanying the governor included Al-Mak Al-Fatih Yusuf Hassan Adlan, the paramount chief of the Funj tribes; Al-Umda Abdul Aziz Muhammad, the mayor of Al-Kadalo; Al-Umda Khalid Al-Rashid Abu Shotal, the governor of Al-Rusayris; the Minister of Urban Planning; the Minister of Agriculture for the region; the head of the region’s legal department, Attorney General Muhammad Ahmed Karmanu; the regional director of forestry; and Engineer Sabri Ismail Hawli, the regional director of surveying.
The governor briefed the minister on the overall situation in the region.
The meeting addressed the border dispute between the region and the Dinder Open Park .

The governor expressed his hope for a solution to the dispute that would satisfy the people of the Blue Nile.
He added, “We came to the Ministry of Justice because it is the body responsible for implementing the law.”
He emphasized that the region believes in resorting to the law and expressed his hope that an understanding would be reached in the coming period to put an end to this dispute.
The meeting reviewed the findings of the arbitration committee formed by the Minister of Justice to resolve the dispute, as well as the technical report of the National Borders Commission regarding border demarcation and the determination of coordinates according to the maps and coordinates stipulated in the 1986 Law on the Protection of Hunting and National Parks, and their reservations on some points in the report.
The Minister promised to listen to the other party and work towards resolving the dispute between all parties and determining the boundary between the Blue Nile region and the Dinder National Park amicably and in accordance with the law.
