BoK Launches “Thankful and Appreciative” Initiative in Support of Sudanese School Examination Staff and Teachers

On Thursday, Bank of Khartoum launched its “Thankful and Appreciative” initiative, aimed at supporting teachers and staff working in the Sudanese Secondary School Certificate Examination Control Center. The initiative targets approximately 3,000 beneficiaries in recognition of their significant efforts in completing examination processing and producing results efficiently and accurately.

The launch ceremony was attended by Minister of Education Dr. Al-Tahami Al-Zain Hajar, Undersecretary of the Ministry Dr. Ahmed Khalifa, Head of the Control Center Health Committee Dr. Abu Obeida Mohamed Othman, Bank of Khartoum representative Dr. Khalid Amer, initiative coordinator Mr. Othman Al-Jundi, as well as educational leaders, teachers, examination control staff, and representatives of partner organizations supporting the ministry’s efforts.

The initiative includes a package of services, such as providing light breakfast meals for staff, opening bank accounts, offering microfinance opportunities for reconstruction through Irada Company, a subsidiary of Bank of Khartoum, supporting the medical unit, and organizing a specialized eye examination and treatment camp.

Bank representative Dr. Khalid Amer stated that the “Thankful and Appreciative” initiative falls within the bank’s corporate social responsibility programs and reflects its commitment to supporting the education sector and teachers, whom he described as the cornerstone of building future generations. He added that the bank will continue implementing partnerships and initiatives that serve the educational process.

For his part, Abu Obeida Mohamed Othman, Secretary of the Health Committee at the Control Center, explained that the inauguration of the medical unit represents an important addition to healthcare services provided to examination staff. He noted that the facility will enable immediate medical and emergency care, creating a healthier work environment that helps teachers and staff perform their duties effectively during the examination processing period.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education Dr. Ahmed Khalifa praised the fruitful partnership between the ministry and Bank of Khartoum, emphasizing that the initiative reflects the well-deserved appreciation of teachers and staff who continue working under exceptional circumstances to ensure the successful completion of secondary school examination operations. He also called on national institutions to contribute to supporting the education sector and its workforce.

At the conclusion of the event, Minister of Education Dr. Al-Tahami Al-Zain Hajar commended Bank of Khartoum for the initiative and the support provided to teachers and examination staff. He stressed that caring for the health and well-being of personnel is a fundamental component of a successful examination process.

The minister added that the opening of the medical unit and the launch of the bank’s initiative embody the spirit of solidarity and cooperation between state institutions and the private sector in support of education. He expressed hope that similar initiatives would expand to cover other states and educational institutions across the country.

Teachers and examination staff also expressed their appreciation for the initiative sponsored by Bank of Khartoum, noting that it helps boost morale and provides a better working environment during the period of duties associated with the Sudanese Secondary School Certificate Examinations. They praised the services offered by the bank.

Separately, a joint meeting was held at the Ministry of Education between the Minister of Education and the Bank of Khartoum representative. During the meeting, the bank representative provided a comprehensive briefing on the initiative and its objectives, thanking the ministry for welcoming the program. The minister, in turn, praised the purposeful partnership with Bank of Khartoum and the initiative’s role in serving teachers and educators.
