Sudanese Referee “Shanteer” Selected for Next World Cup Officiating Team

The Referees Committee of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has selected Sudanese referee Mahmoud Shanteer to join the panel officiating matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The African list includes Egypt’s Amin Omar, Somalia’s Omar Artan, Mauritania’s Dahane Beida, Algeria’s Mustapha Ghorbal, Sudan’s Ismail Mahmoud, Morocco’s Jalal Jayed, Gabon’s Pierre Atcho, Congo’s Jean-Jacques Ndala, and Senegal’s Issa Sy.
The training camp for African referees and those from the Asian Football Confederation is scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, from 23 to 27 February 2026 as part of the final preparation phase.
