Khartoum – Sudan Horizon
The Supreme Council for Environment and Urban and Rural Promotion in Khartoum State, through its General Directorate of Environmental Impact Assessment, announced on Sunday the launch of field visits to fuel stations. According to the council’s media office, the plan aims to cover fuel stations across all localities in the state.
Yusra Awad, Director-General of Environmental Impact Assessment and Licensing, said in press statements on Sunday that the plan focuses on conducting environmental audits at a number of stations and granting operating approval to some stations that were damaged during the war and have since been repaired and prepared to resume operations. The inspections will also assess whether the stations meet the technical requirements for distributing petroleum products.
Awad explained that the visits aim to verify compliance with environmental regulations and requirements and ensure their proper implementation. They also seek to guide station owners and workers on the importance of observing established standards and regulations to protect the health of both employees and the public.
The inspections will additionally assess compliance with approved international standards to strengthen public safety and ensure the quality of services.
