AUC Condemns Militia Atrocities in El Fasher

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission(AUC), Mohamed Ali Youssef, has condemned the horrific atrocities and violations of human rights and international law committed by the Rapid Support Forces against civilians in El Fasher.

In a statement, the Commissioner has expressed his deep regret for the violence that occurred in El Fasher after its fall into the hands of the Rapid Support Forces.

He affirmed the Commission’s strong condemnation of all violations of humanitarian and international law related to the killing of civilians.

He called on the parties to the conflict to respect international laws protecting civilians.

The commissioner has called for the expedited opening of crossings and corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to rescue those affected.

He also stressed that no military solutions can end the crisis in Sudan, and called on all parties to immediately engage in dialogue and enter into a comprehensive peace process.

He affirmed that the African Union stands with the Sudanese people and supports their aspirations for unity and peace.
