Sudanese Referees Released After Ambassador I Intervention
Dar es Salaam – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Embassy in Tanzania, led by Ambassador Mohamed Abdel-Rahim, along with Consul Asim Mustafa and the Sudanese Football Association, represented by its President, Mutassim Jafar, and the Chairman of the Referees Committee, Captain Salah Ahmed Mohamed Saleh, have successfully resolved the issue of the detention of the two Sudanese international referees, Abdel Aziz Jafar (Damazin) and Moaz Ahmed Ali (Shitta), who were participating in the refereeing of the CECAFA Cup tournament.
The two referees received their passports from the hotel management after tremendous efforts by the Sudanese Embassy in Tanzania. They expressed their sincere gratitude to the Ambassador, the Consul, and the embassy staff for their intervention, which led to the resolution of the question.
The two referees also commended the efforts of the President of the Sudanese Football Association and the Chairman of the Referees Committee.
It is to be noted that the two Sudanese referees had been held at the hotel along with other referees who had officiated matches in the CECAFA Cup tournament, as the CECAFA federation had failed to cover their hotel bills.
