The Sudan Doctors Network said on Thursday that 24 people were killed and 55 others injured, including five women as a result of direct and deliberate shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on El Fasher.

The network reported in a statement that the shelling on Wednesday , targeted the central market area and the Awlad al-Rif neighborhood.

It condemned in the strongest terms the massacre committed by the militia as a result of the deliberate artillery shelling of El Fasher city, stating that this heinous crime adds to a series of war crimes and genocide targeting defenseless civilians in El Fasher for more than a year, amid a strict siege and severe shortages of food, medicine, and basic services.

The network underlined that it considers targeting densely populated residential neighborhoods a flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws and reveals the widespread violations committed by the RSF against civilians who have opted to stay in their homes and within their land.

It also held the international community, the Security Council, and the African Union fully responsible for their silence and inability to stand up against these crimes. It called for immediate action to halt the bombing, lift the siege on El Fasher, and exert more pressure against the militia leaders to halt the genocide and systematic starvation of defenseless civilians in El Fasher.
