The General Authority for Geological Research has recovered a Swedish-made “Terrameter LS2″—a critical instrument for geophysical and mineral exploration—valued at $80,000. The device had gone missing during the war but was found and safeguarded by a citizen, who subsequently handed it over to the manufacturer’s local agent.
The Authority’s Director General, Consulting Geologist Ahmed Haroun Al-Tom, received the device from “Geo-Earth Integrated Solutions,” the Sudanese agent for the Swedish manufacturer, which facilitated the handover to the Authority.
The device is an essential tool for geophysical, geological, and mineral exploration. Its scientific and practical value lies in supporting the Authority’s programs and field surveys, representing a significant enhancement to its technical capabilities.
Through its Director General, the General Authority for Geological Research expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation to the conscientious citizen who found the device, kept it safe, and ensured its delivery to the manufacturer’s agent in Sudan.
It is worth noting that the Authority originally purchased the device through the manufacturer’s agent in 2017; its current value stands at $80,000.
