The Army Refutes Allegations of Targeting Aid Convoys

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Armed Forces denied on Thursday the Rapid Support Forces’ claims that it had targeted an aid convoy in North Darfur, saying the accusations were merely an attempt to cover up its crime.
On Wednesday, three trucks out of 16 were set on fire after being targeted by a drone in the Al-Sayah area of the Mellit locality. The trucks were carrying aid provided by the World Food Program to those affected by the fighting and displaced in the area.
A press release from the army spokesman’s office stated that the militia issued a misleading statement accusing our forces of bombing the aid in an attempt to cover up its crime of targeting the aforementioned convoy in the same area.
He explained that the militia’s misleading statement is nothing but a collection of familiar lies, an attempt to obscure the truth and distort the reality that exposes its ongoing violations since they ignited this war against the nation and its citizens, beginning with theft, looting, sabotage, murder, and rape.
The statement also drew attention to the siege and starvation imposed by the militia on the residents of El Fasher and other areas, as well as its invasion of camps for the displaced in Darfur, most recently Zamzam camp, which was converted into a training camp for minors by Colombian mercenaries. It also included Abu Shouk camp in North Darfur, from which displaced persons were expelled, and ended with the physical liquidation of prisoners and detainees, the use of foreign mercenaries to kill our citizens, and finally, its record of crimes and violations of international humanitarian law and the customs of war, according to the statement.
The statement indicated the Sudanese government’s agreement to open humanitarian aid routes, including the Adre border crossing with Chad, despite the knowledge that it is being used by the militia and its supporters to facilitate the flow of weapons, equipment, and foreign mercenaries.
He continued, “There is no way any aid convoys coming to benefit our citizens, who are suffering from complex humanitarian conditions imposed on them by the criminal Al-Dagalo militia in the areas they besiege and deny them all the necessities of life.”
