Democratic Bloc: Committed to Jeddah Declaration

The Democratic Bloc has announced its commitment to the Jeddah Declaration of Principles signed in May 2023 and its security principles, as they are consistent with international humanitarian law.

Dr. Mohamed Zakaria Farajallah, the official spokesperson for the Democratic Bloc, said in a press release issued on Monday “As part of the efforts of the Forces for Freedom and Change – Democratic Bloc to strengthen communication with regional and international parties supporting the national solution process, representatives of the bloc’s political committee met with the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Sudan, Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, at his residence in Port Sudan.”

The bloc’s delegation was headed by Commander Minni Arko Minawi, head of the bloc’s political committee, along with Professor Moataz Al-Fahal and Dr. Mohamed Zakaria Farajallah, according to the statement.

The meeting reviewed the roadmap adopted by the Democratic Bloc as an approach to a comprehensive political solution and achieving sustainable peace in Sudan.

The bloc’s delegation emphasized the importance of the constructive role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting peace and stability efforts, and that the Jeddah Declaration must be the reference and basis for any security agreement, given its compliance with international humanitarian law.

The bloc also expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom, its leadership and people, and to the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the humanitarian support provided to the Sudanese people.
