The activities of the Sudanese Youth Conference in Egypt kicked off in Cairo today, Saturday, under the slogan “Let’s Rebuild.” The conference was organized by the Isnad Association for Supporting Victims of War and Disasters, with a large official and popular presence.

The conference aimed to provide a dialogue and communication platform for Sudanese youth residing in Egypt to present their ideas and initiatives in the fields of reconstruction and development, enhancing their active role in shaping Sudan’s future, building an influential youth network, supporting emerging projects, and highlighting youth successes and experiences in light of current challenges.

The conference discussed scientific papers on reconstruction, the role of technology in this process, the challenges of attracting young people to state institutions, the role of youth in social recovery, the involvement of civil society organizations, youth empowerment, and the impact of social media. It also organized open discussion sessions and showcased youth experiences and projects.

At the opening session of the conference, Dr. Essam Sharaf, Chairman of the Initiative’s Supreme Committee and former Prime Minister of Egypt, announced his support for the Sudanese people in all circumstances. He stated that the peoples of Egypt and Sudan have been brothers since time immemorial, emphasizing the importance of rebuilding Sudan and restoring it to a better state than before, thanks to its youth.

Ms. Amira El Fadil, Chairwoman of the Isnad Board of Directors, reiterated Egypt’s role, having accommodated approximately two million Sudanese migrants since April 15, 2023. She thanked Egypt and praised the steadfastness of the youth who sacrificed their lives and contributed to achieving stability in Sudan through the organization of the Takaya. She noted that the war posed challenges and created new opportunities. She stated that youth must play a role in determining the future of the country, and considered the conference the beginning of the youth’s journey toward reconstruction.

Kamal Hassan Ali, Deputy Chairman of the Higher Committee for Supporting the Ambassador, pointed out that they worked to preserve the dignity of the Sudanese, and said: “We are working to provide relief to the Sudanese in Egypt, and there are others who provide support for the war effort.” He added: “We want the youth to flock to Sudan to rebuild the country.” He also announced support for the transitional prime minister, adding that Sudan is a great country and that we will build it better than it was after achieving security and victories over the militias that were defeated without negotiating, but rather left by force of arms. He stressed the importance of maintaining the good relationship between Sudan and Egypt.
