Sudan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Professor Ahmed Adam, officially launched the Board of Directors of the Youth and Sports Activities Support Fund during the board’s inaugural meeting, held on Thursday at the Al Salam Rotana Hotel in Khartoum.

The meeting was attended by Board Chairman Hassan Barqo, board members Jamal Al-Wali, Saber Sharif Al-Khandaqawi, Fakhr El-Din Fadlallah, and the Fund’s Director General, Engineer Ezzeldin Al-Haj, along with other participants.

The minister said the launch of the Fund marks an important step toward strengthening support for youth and sports activities, noting that the current phase requires concerted efforts to assist sports federations and youth organizations that have been affected by the war, in accordance with the regulations and laws governing the Fund’s operations.

He also welcomed the return of several prominent sports figures to contribute to national development through the Fund, praising their willingness to accept the responsibility and dedicate their expertise to serving Sudan’s youth and sports sectors. He called on Ministry staff to fully cooperate with the Board to ensure the Fund’s success and the achievement of its objectives.

For his part, Board Chairman Hassan Barqo said the Board aims to bring about a significant transformation in the support provided to youth and sports initiatives by drawing on the successful experiences of similar funds across the Arab world. He added that the Board intends to implement strategic projects with both immediate and long-term impact.

Meanwhile, the Fund’s Director General, Engineer Ezzeldin Al-Haj, said the next phase will be guided by collective action and transparency. He called for unified efforts and innovative thinking to fulfill the Fund’s mission.

Al-Haj also described the return of Jamal Al-Wali to Sudan after seven years as “a return to serve the nation,” noting that his contribution through the Fund would help strengthen both the youth and sports sectors.
