The Governor of Darfur and leader of the Sudan Liberation Army Movement, Minni Arko Minawi, commended the role of media activists, digital platforms, and social media in supporting the “War of Dignity.”

In a meeting on Monday with several media activists in the French capital, Paris, he stated, “Journalists play an important role in promoting peace by influencing public opinion and disseminating information that contributes to building dialogue and understanding among conflicting parties.”

Meanwhile, the official spokesperson for the joint forces of the armed struggle movements explained that online media activists played a significant role in providing the public with facts and documenting the crimes committed by the Janjaweed militias across Sudan.

He added, “Since the beginning of the war, social media activists have played a crucial role in countering the misleading media machinery of the Janjaweed militias and their political and regional allies and confronting rumours.”

The spokesperson further emphasised, “They have defended national causes, sovereignty, unity, and the dignity of the people while correcting the misinformation spread by the militias’ media rooms in their attempts to wage an electronic war against Sudan and its people.”

It is noteworthy that Governor Minni Arko Minawi is currently visiting France at the invitation of Sudanese expatriates and online activists to clarify the facts surrounding the “War of Dignity,” which the Sudanese people have been fighting for a year and a half to defend their land, honour, and preserve Sudanese identity.
