Al-Mirghani: Dialogue Is a National Responsibility

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

Jaafar Al-Sadiq Mohamed Osman Al-Mirghani, head of the Freedom and Change Alliance – Democratic Bloc and deputy leader of the Democratic Unionist Party – Original, affirmed the bloc’s support for intra-Sudanese dialogue and its organisation within Sudan, stressing that dialogue represents a shared national responsibility between political forces and the Sudanese Dialogue Groundwork Committee.

Meanwhile, the committee expects dialogue efforts to accelerate in the coming period following a meeting with the bloc’s leadership that it described as fruitful.

Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Sudanese Dialogue Groundwork Committee, headed by Othman Mirghani Abdullah, at the Sayyid Ali Al-Mirghani Garden in central Khartoum on Sunday, Al-Mirghani said the meeting addressed several issues related to dialogue and creating a suitable environment for its launch. The discussions also covered observations raised by the bloc during the previous meeting and ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two sides.

He added that dialogue is becoming increasingly important amid the difficult circumstances facing the country, noting that the Sudanese people are eagerly awaiting this stage. He affirmed that the Democratic Bloc is now more supportive of dialogue than ever.

Al-Mirghani stressed that “there will be no dialogue in isolation from the political forces, and there will be no dialogue in isolation from the Dialogue Groundwork Committee.” He said that pooling efforts represents a shared national responsibility that will pave the way for the dialogue process itself.

He affirmed that the dialogue must be exclusively national, conducted inside Sudan and for the benefit of the country and its citizens. He also thanked the committee for the visit and wished it success in carrying out its mission.
