Khartoum State Postpones Start of Academic Year by One Week
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon – Hala Hamza
Abdel Latif Shakir, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Education and National Education in Khartoum State, issued a decision on Saturday postponing the start of the new academic year, originally scheduled for Sunday, by one week. Classes will now begin on October 18, 2026.
The acting minister said the postponement would allow time to complete the process of distributing sixth-grade primary school pupils among intermediate schools, finalize the examination control and marking procedures for the intermediate school certificate examinations, complete training for newly appointed teachers, and prepare the school environment to receive pupils.
The decision directed the education departments at the ministry headquarters, localities, and schools to implement the decision.
