The Public Prosecution Office Denies Rumors of “Five Trillion Pounds” Deposit,Takes Action

The Public Prosecution Office strongly denied recent reports circulating on some websites and social media platforms regarding the deposit of five trillion Sudanese pounds into its accounts, allegedly to finance its relocation to Khartoum State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Public Prosecution Office affirmed that this information is completely false and baseless, and that the circulated claims are nothing more than fabricated allegations intended to defame the Public Prosecution Office, tarnish the image of its leadership, and undermine its reputation and credibility in the eyes of the general public.

The statement emphasized that the Public Prosecution Office will not tolerate any attempts to undermine state institutions, defame their leaders, or mislead public opinion through the dissemination of false and misleading information. It further stressed that its right to take legal action against anyone found to be involved in such activities is guaranteed by law. According to the statement, the Cybercrime Prosecution Office has filed a criminal case against the individual who disseminated the misinformation and is taking the necessary legal measures regarding the incident. The statement indicated that procedures are ongoing to pursue the individual and bring him to justice, including utilizing relevant international legal channels and mechanisms as needed.

The Public Prosecution reiterated its commitment to operating with independence, integrity, and impartiality, adhering to the laws, regulations, and financial and administrative controls established by the competent state authorities. It affirmed that all its actions and procedures are conducted within the established legal and institutional frameworks.

The Public Prosecution urged citizens, media outlets, and social media users to verify the accuracy of information before publishing or sharing it. It warned that publishing or republishing false or misleading news and information, when it meets the criteria for criminal offenses, may subject the perpetrator to legal accountability and proceedings, in accordance with the provisions of the Cybercrime Law of 2018 and related laws.
