Japanese PM Attends Africa Day Celebration; Sudanese Ambassador Holds Meetings

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi graced the celebration held on (Monday) by the group of African ambassadors in Tokyo to mark Africa Day. The event was attended by a large number of Japanese officials, including ministers, members of parliament, heads of companies and institutions, and various figures from Japanese society.
Also present was Ambassador Fathallah Sijilmassi, Director-General of the African Union Commission, who delivered a speech on behalf of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssef. The Sudanese Ambassador to Japan, Al-Rayah Haidoub, and his wife, along with the embassy’s advisor, Ali Mohamed Ahmed, also attended.
In her address, Takaichi emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Japan and Africa, particularly in light of current global challenges. She also highlighted the need to activate Japan’s initiative to make the Indo-Pacific region free and open, which was launched by former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe from the African continent.
On the sidelines of the celebration, the Sudanese Ambassador, Al-Rayah Haidoub, had the opportunity to meet with some Japanese officials. He discussed with them the current situation in Sudan and provided an explanation of the positive developments taking place in Sudan, the gradual return of life to normal, and the resumption of the activities of the state and all its institutions from Khartoum. The conversation with some of them touched on how to expand cooperation in the field of development and investment.
