Sudan’s Minister of Digital Transformation Participates in Opening of China-Africa Digital Technology Cooperation Center

The Sudanese Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, Ahmed Al-Dirdiri Ghandour, participated in the opening of the China-Africa Digital Technology Cooperation Center in Hangzhou, China, within the framework of the conference and programme on development policies and digital transformation in Africa.
Sudan’s participation comes within the context of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications’ approach to expanding its international technical partnerships and linking them to national capacity-building priorities, developing digital infrastructure, accelerating digital transformation, and supporting the growth of the digital economy in the country, according to Osama Mukhtar, the Sudanese Nnational Radio Correspondent in China.
On the sidelines of the event, the Minister held talks with the Chinese Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, which addressed ways to expand cooperation between Sudan and China in the fields of digital transformation, communications, and information technology, in addition to capacity building, knowledge and expertise exchange, and strengthening cooperation between relevant institutions in both countries.
The two sides discussed opportunities to translate existing cooperation into practical initiatives that support Sudan’s priorities in digital government, digital infrastructure, emerging technologies, and national capacity building, as well as strengthening institutional communication and continuing coordination.
In his remarks at the center’s inauguration, the Sudanese minister welcomed China’s initiative to enhance digital cooperation with African countries, emphasizing that technology has become a key driver of development and growth, and that expanding cooperation in the digital field opens up real opportunities for capacity building, service development, youth empowerment, and innovation.
The minister noted China’s leading experience and advanced capabilities in technology, communications, artificial intelligence, and digital government, affirming Sudan’s aspiration to expand cooperation with China and exchange expertise and knowledge, which supports digital transformation priorities and opens broader horizons for technological partnership between the two countries.
He also commended the role of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology in promoting China-Africa digital cooperation, noting that the China-Africa Digital Technology Cooperation Center represents an important platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and developing new areas of cooperation in technology and innovation between China and African states.
The Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications affirmed that Sudan will continue to expand its international technology partnerships and work to translate them into practical cooperation pathways that contribute to building national capacities, developing digital infrastructure, and supporting the implementation of digital transformation priorities in the country
