On Sunday, intelligence from the 18th Infantry Division in White Nile State thwarted an attempt to smuggle shipments of fuel, weapons, and drugs destined for militias along the border with South Sudan.
The commander of the 18th Infantry Division, Major General Jamal Juma Adam, revealed the seizure of 79 barrels of smuggled fuel and quantities of weapons in various locations in the western part of the state, in addition to quantities of various types of narcotics.
The Governor of White Nile State, Lieutenant General Qamar al-Din Muhammad Fadl al-Mawla, and the State Security Committee praised the successful operation carried out by the joint anti-smuggling force, the security cell, and reserve forces, emphasizing the importance of coordination between security and military agencies to combat smuggling operations and secure the state’s borders. During his inspection of the seized goods, accompanied by the state security committee, the governor stated that the state had issued decisive decrees criminalizing the smuggling of strategic goods, foodstuffs, and fuel. He described the smuggling of supplies to the militia as a “sabotage operation” supported by collaborating elements within the state.
The governor directed the public prosecutor and judicial authorities to expedite legal procedures and apply deterrent penalties against those involved.
He affirmed the continued coordination and joint efforts of security and military agencies to maintain security, secure the state’s borders, and combat activities that threaten security and stability.
