Sudan Ports Authority Reports Strong Performance at Southern Port Container Terminal in June

The Sudan Sea Ports Authority has announced that the Container Terminal at the Southern Port recorded strong operational performance during June 2026, according to a bulletin issued by the authority.
The bulletin stated that the terminal received 30 vessels during the month, comprising 15 container ships and 15 non-container vessels, reflecting the continued flow of maritime traffic and the smooth movement of ships through the port.
According to the terminal’s operational report, 8,157 inbound containers were handled, equivalent to 13,615 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), accounting for 52.33% of the total container throughput for the month.
On the export side, the terminal handled 7,436 outbound containers, including both loaded and empty units, representing a total of 12,404 TEUs, or 47.67% of the month’s total container traffic.
Overall, the terminal processed 15,593 containers during June, equivalent to 26,019 TEUs, underscoring the efficiency of operations at the container terminal and its ability to maintain stable performance levels in cargo handling and shipping line services.
The Sudan Sea Ports Authority said the results reflect its ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency, increase productivity, and enhance port services in support of Sudan’s foreign trade while reinforcing the country’s position as a key maritime gateway in the region.
