White Nile State Government: Ban on Carrying Firearms in Market Places

The White Nile State Security Committee held an expanded meeting on Sunday, chaired by Lieutenant General Qamar al-Din Muhammad Fadl al-Mawla, the state governor, and attended by all its members.
The meeting addressed several pressing security and service-related issues, primarily ways to combat negative phenomena, establish state authority, and ensure the availability of strategic goods.
Following the meeting, the committee’s rapporteur, Major General Hashim Balla Suleiman, the state’s Police Director, explained that the committee extensively discussed the seriousness of certain negative security practices, most notably the presence of armed forces person carrying firearms in markets and residential areas, as well as the widespread phenomenon of indiscriminate gunfire during public events.
He added that the meeting reviewed the recent resolutions issued by the Federal Security and Defense Council, emphasizing their immediate and decisive implementation to address these issues.
Regarding the service aspect, the committee sent a message of reassurance to the people, confirming the stability of the security situation and the smooth flow of strategic food commodities and petroleum products at all sales outlets, and guaranteeing their regular flow during the coming period, stressing the great concern of the security committee for the stability and security of the state, and reiterating its assurance to the people that the general situation is safe and stable.
