Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The Governor of Darfur and head of the Sudan Liberation Army Movement, Minni Arko Minawi, has revealed that the Urshi area, affiliated to Umbro locality, North Darfur State, was attacked by the Rapid Support Forces militia. The attack resulted in the burning of several villages, widespread looting of citizens’ property, and the complete burning of Urshi market after its contents were looted.
In a post on his Facebook page, the Governor of Darfur stated: “I reiterate my condemnation of these ongoing crimes and violations against civilians. We call upon the international community and humanitarian and human rights organizations to take immediate action to protect civilians and stop the crimes committed against our people in Darfur.”
He added that the world wakes up every day to a new crime committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia against innocent civilians, amidst unjustified international silence and a clear inability to take serious action to stop these violations and hold the perpetrators and those who support or provide them with political and military cover, accountable.
He said that “what happened to our people in the Darfur region, including genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement, represents one of the most serious humanitarian tragedies that Sudan has witnessed in its modern history.”
