The State Minister at the Ministry of Finance, Advisor Mohammed Nour Abdeldaim, announced that his ministry is working in close partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications to implement a package of strategic projects aimed at digitizing government services and enhancing the efficiency of public spending.
In press statements reported by the Ministry of Finance’s media department on Friday, the State Minister explained that the embassy network connectivity project is one of the outcomes of this partnership. The project is being implemented in coordination between the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs through the technical arms of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications.
He said: “We have now launched the initial phase from the Sudanese Consulate General in Jeddah and the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo as two pilot models, with plans to gradually expand to include the rest of the missions.”
He noted that the project aims to accelerate financial and administrative remittance processes for embassies and consulates, reduce reliance on cash transactions and the associated operational and security risks, and provide real-time financial and administrative reports to decision-makers. It also seeks to facilitate access for Sudanese citizens abroad to consular services in less time and with simpler procedures.
The State Minister confirmed that this step comes within a broader government direction to adopt digital transformation in order to achieve financial reform. The Ministry of Finance aims to increase transparency in public fund flows through unified electronic payment and collection systems, reduce operational costs and minimize losses associated with cash handling, and build a real-time database that enables tracking of revenues and expenditures and the provision of accurate periodic reports.
He added that joint technical committees will work in the coming weeks to evaluate the experiences in Jeddah and Cairo, and to complete the technical requirements and training of diplomatic staff, before generalizing the model to the rest of the embassies and consulates.
