The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced today (Tuesday) the rescue of 112 people, including 39 Sudanese and 4 Somalis, off the western coast of Libya.

In a statement, the UNHCR said that 112 people, including women and children, were rescued off the western coast of Libya after being adrift at sea for more than 24 hours.

The UNHCR indicated that emergency medical teams were deployed to provide assistance to the survivors, some of whom were suffering from hypothermia and minor burns due to a fuel leak on their boats.

A few days ago, Libyan Red Crescent teams recovered the bodies of victims of a migrant boat sinking between Al-Tamimi and Umm al-Razm, according to new data from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which revealed that at least 7,667 people died or went missing on migration routes worldwide in 2025.
