The Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris left the country Wednesday morning heading for the Federal Republic of Germany, leading the Sudanese delegation participating in the 62nd Munich Security Conference, held from February 13-15.

The conference is attended by a number of heads of state and government, foreign ministers, officials from regional and international organizations, security and defense leaders, ambassadors, and experts in international relations and security policies.

Sudan has consistently been keen to participate in the Munich Conference, which typically sees discussions on current international challenges and issues, with a focus on international security matters.

Sudan’s Ambassador to Germany, Ms. Ilham Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, told the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that the conference presents an opportunity for Sudan to explain the nature of developments in the country, present the Sudanese peace initiative submitted by the Prime Minister to the Security Council last December, and outline the government’s efforts to establish peace and stability and provide a safe environment for the return of citizens. Alongside the Prime Minister, the conference is being attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, the Deputy Director General of the Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Abbas Mohamed Bakheet, and a number of the Prime Minister’s advisors.
