Sudan condemns RSF Militia Attack on Humanitarian Convoy
Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
A statement issued by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has condemned “the criminal attack” carried out by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia, Friday, targeting trucks belonging to the World Food Programme (WFP)with drones, transporting humanitarian assistance and food aid to affected civilians in North Kordofan State, in the areas of Allah Karim, Al-Samih, Al-Rahad, and the city of Umm Ruwaba.
The ministry’s statement asserted that the attack, which resulted in casualties and the destruction of relief supplies intended for humanitarian response, is not an isolated incident, but rather a continuation of a pattern the terrorist militia has consistently followed to obstruct humanitarian work and use food deprivation as a means of pressuring civilians.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs drew the attention of the international community to the fact that the crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia are occurring in full view of the international community, which has remained silent in the face of these war crimes that demand accountability.
The statement affirmed that targeting aid convoys and humanitarian infrastructure constitutes a grave violation of the principles of international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions, and represents a deliberate undermining of efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance to civilians in need.
Through the statement, the Sudanese government called upon the international community to unequivocally condemn these practices and take the necessary measures to ensure that the (RSF) militia and its backers are held accountable.
It reiterated the Sudanese government’s commitment to fully cooperate with the United Nations and its humanitarian agencies, and to do everything necessary to ensure the unimpeded delivery of aid to those who need it.
