West Darfur Governor: Legitimacy Rests with the State and SAF

Sudanhorizon- Mariam Absher – Exclusive
The West Darfur State government has confirmed that attempt to install a parallel government in Nyala will not change the facts on the ground, emphasizing that legitimacy lies solely in the hands of the state and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
West Darfur State Governor, General Bahar al-Din Adam Karama, told the Sudanhorizon news website that the announcement of TASSIS government is merely a media cover for a militia experiencing moments of collapse.
He confirmed that field plans are going on as planned to regain control over every inch of Darfur, emphasizing that they will not allow the presence of any entity that undermines Sudan’s unity.
The governor described the TASSIS government as a blatant adventure that will hasten their demise, adding that the move is nothing more than a desperate attempt to create an illusion of legitimacy and evidence of the militia’s inability and retreat in the face of the advances of the Sudanese army and the joint forces.
He emphasized that Darfur will only be administered through its national institutions. The governor added that what happened in Nyala would be an additional incentive for the state government and regular forces to continue the battle to cleanse Darfur and restore stability. He announced that the next phase would witness an intensification of military and security operations, the activation of civil administration in the areas to be retaken, and the launch of urgent plans for reconstruction and services.
