General Jaber: What Happened in Sudan Was a Malicious Coup Supported by External Forces

A member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, described what happened in Sudan on April 15, 2023, as a “coup against the government and the implementation of malicious plans supported by external parties.” He called on the European Union to pressure regional and international actors to stop the flow of weapons and mercenaries into Sudan.
The member of the Sovereign Council, Assistant to the General Commander, reiterated the Sudanese government’s commitment to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need and ensuring the smooth operation of relief teams and workers from humanitarian organizations, as stated in a communiqué issued by the Transitional Sovereign Council’s media office.
During a meeting in Port Sudan (on Monday) with the European Union’s envoy for the Horn of Africa, Anita Weber, Jaber highlighted the steps taken by the Sudanese government regarding humanitarian work, including the opening of various border crossings and local airports to allow humanitarian assistance to enter.
According to the communiqué, the member of the Sovereign Council provided a detailed explanation to the EU representative about Sudan’s position and its openness to all initiatives aimed at achieving security, stability, and the enforcement of Sudan’s sovereignty while preserving the dignity of the Sudanese people. He emphasized that the Jeddah platform is the reference point that guarantees and protects the rights of the Sudanese people by removing the terrorist militias from civilian areas, government institutions, and popular institutions.
For her part, the European Union’s representative for the Horn of Africa, who arrived in Sudan yesterday and met with the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, expressed her appreciation for the Sudanese government’s efforts to enhance and support humanitarian work.
