The National Movement Forces Alliance Proposes Establishing A Framework to Facilitate Sudan Political Process
Cairo – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese National Movement Forces Alliance, led by Dr. Tijani Sisi, has presented a proposal to the British envoy to Sudan, Richard Crowder, during their meeting in Cairo on Wednesday, aimed to overcome the multiplicity of initiatives.
It involves establishing a regional and international framework, mandated by the African Union Peace and Security Council and the UN Security Council, whose sole mission would be to facilitate the political process.
The National Movement delegation indicated that this proposal comes in response to a number of challenges facing the achievement of peace in Sudan, foremost among them the multiplicity of regional and international initiatives, in addition to the negative interventions of some countries.
A press release issued by the Alliance on Thursday stated that the delegation, which included Dr. Tijani Sisi Mohamed, head of the National Movement Forces, and Nazir Mohamed Surur Ramli, a member of the Supreme Committee, received a briefing from the British envoy, Richard Crowder, on regional and international efforts aimed at achieving peace in Sudan on both the political and security tracks.
The National Movement forces also expressed reservations about the ceasefire proposal put forward by the Quartet, arguing that it would legitimize a parallel government, potentially leading to the country’s division. They emphasized the difficulty of holding Sudanese dialogue while the war continues, asserting that a conducive environment is essential for its success. At the same time, they stressed the need for continued preliminary consultations among political and social forces to reach consensus on a range of issues related to the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue.
