The Duet of Elon Musk and Muhoozi

By Amb. Abdul Mahmoud Abdul Haleem

Observers raised their eyebrows in astonishment a few days ago when Muhoozi, the Ugandan army commander and son of President Museveni, threatened to invade Khartoum. Before that, he had set a date to subdue Kenya. His antics didn’t end there, as he offered 100 cows as a dowry to marry Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

European circles followed Museveni’s repeated apologies to the affected countries with ridicule, attributing such statements to what they consider an “African peculiarity” that grows like the Guinea worm in the depths of the continent. However, Muhoozi has now turned his attention to the United States, but not before the richest man in the world, Elon Musk—CEO of Tesla, owner of platform X, and a new member of Trump’s administration—stole the spotlight.

In a series of tweets, Musk launched scathing attacks on European leaders, aligning himself with the far-right movements in Germany, Italy, and Norway. He hurled insults at British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and called on King Charles to initiate constitutional action to form a new government. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his astonishment at the media platform owner meddling in the “internal affairs” of European countries. At the same time, the world has yet to recover from Trump’s provocative remarks about reclaiming the Panama Canal.

This time, Africa seems to be watching with amusement as Musk’s statements spread fear across Europe. In a satirical tone, an African newspaper speculated that the European Union might consider joining the Non-Aligned Movement, taking advantage of the HIPC initiative, and asking the United States to “exercise restraint.”

As debates continue over Musk’s financial dominance, which has seemingly shrunk Europe and humiliated its leaders, Muhoozi sits cross-legged while observers humorously hum along with Adam Nama’s classic Sudanese tune:

“Oh, what a sight. The chic has stunned… the black failed. The hope has begun… come, negotiate without anger, my friend.”
