Sudan’s General Intelligence Service Neutralizes Drug Smuggling Network

The Department of Combating Organized Crime, the General Intelligence Service, carried out a qualitative security operation targeting one of the largest networks specialized in the smuggling of chemical drugs, in the Red Sea State.
According to a press release published by the General Intelligence Service, a force from the competent department was able to arrest a number of defendants in possession of (75,000) Captagon pills, at the entrance to the city of Port Sudan.
The operation was carried out in close coordination with the anti-smuggling police at customs and the anti-drug police, where all legal measures were taken against the defendants through the competent prosecution.
The Anti-Crime Department of the Counter-Terrorism Department of the General Intelligence Service carried out an operation on April 13, 2025, which resulted in the seizure of (815 kilograms) of various drugs, in one of the largest seizures recorded recently, in addition to weapons and ammunition that were in the possession of members of the network.
The Director of the Competent Department of the General Intelligence Service stressed that these operations come within the framework of the efforts of the General Intelligence Service and the competent police departments to enhance the security of society, combat the threat of drugs, and reduce their spread and trafficking, as part of a national strategy to protect the country from this dangerous scourge.
