Awad said in a special statement to the Sudanhorizon news website that what Minister Abdel-Ati expressed embodies the Egyptian position and reflects the position of Egyptian foreign policy towards Sudan, adding that Abdel-Ati’s speech was transparent and confirms that the Sudanese-Egyptian relationship is eternal.
The Minister continued: Our vision is consistent with the Egyptian foreign policy in that both countries have a desire to support their common interests and that each of them is interested in maintaining this relationship, stressing that Egypt has no hidden agenda in its relations with Sudan, and he said that Egypt’s vision is characterized by clarity in what is in the common interest of the two countries, explaining that Sudan’s recent absence from Geneva and Egypt’s participation embodies their agreement and common vision that each of them complements the other, and that if Sudan is absent, Egypt is present and if Egypt is absent, Sudan is present, and that this is an embodiment of the eternal relationship between the two countries, and he said that the wisdom of Egyptian foreign policy, headed by Minister Abdel-Ati, is a correct reading of the common direction between the two countries, adding that Sudan highly appreciates Egypt’s role and what Abdel-Ati did in completing Sudan’s vision within the Geneva forum, and confronting any external direction, whether from regional countries, or outside the regional environment, to direct a voice of blame at Sudan for not participating, noting that Sudan does not follow any initiative behind which there is a political agenda. The Sudanese minister said that Egypt understands this dimension, and that is why its role was blessed by Sudan, and that Sudan supports the position of the Egyptian leadership, and does not doubt at all the direction of Egyptian foreign policy towards Sudan, stressing that this is Egypt’s destiny regionally and internationally and that it is the destiny of the hospitable Egyptian people to all Arab peoples and to all who lose their homeland or face internal difficulties, and he said that Egypt is a refuge for all surrounding countries, and most of the countries of the region, Arab and African, indicating that there was joint coordination between Sudan and Egypt regarding the Geneva Forum and that Egypt understood Sudan’s position and vision, and he said that Sudan trusted Egypt’s role within this forum.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aati confirmed yesterday, on Monday, that the challenges facing Egypt in all strategic directions require a national alignment. He said in his meeting with a number of senior Egyptian media professionals that we are facing urgent and protracted crises, and we must deal with these crises in accordance with the principles of international law and international conventions and with keenness on our national security, adding that we are facing crises in the northeast (Gaza), the west (Libya) and the south (Sudan), which is one of the most dangerous crises, and what is happening in Sudan is at the heart of Egyptian national security, revealing that Egypt spoke on behalf of Sudan in Geneva after Lieutenant General Burhan refused to participate, and that it refused to take any punitive measures by other countries due to the lack of participation, stressing that Egypt has no hidden agenda in Sudan, and he said that everyone appreciates Egypt’s participation in resolving the crisis, and that the previous round of the Geneva forum was revealing, and he continued that we are the party most affected by the crisis in Sudan, and we are keen to support legitimacy and the Sudanese army, warning of the fall of the Sudanese army, and he said: (God forbid) if that happened, the state would collapse and the partition plan would begin.
