Sources: Supreme Oil Council Formed Under Al-Burhan, Aramco Partnership Expected
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon – Nazik Shammam
Informed sources told Sudanhorizon on Wednesday that a Supreme Oil Council has been formed under the chairmanship of Sovereignty Council Chairman General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
The council includes Prime Minister Kamil Idris, the Minister of Oil, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan.
The sources confirmed that the Sudanese government is expected to establish a partnership between the Sudanese Petroleum Corporation and Saudi Aramco toward the end of this year to secure the country’s petroleum product needs.
Earlier last month, the Sovereignty Council Chairman assigned General Shams al-Din Kabbashi to oversee the oil portfolio. He subsequently worked to arrange the return of the Sudanese Petroleum Corporation and follow up on its approval within the Council of Ministers.
The Sovereignty Council is scheduled to hold a session today to approve the Sudanese Petroleum Corporation Law.
