A prominent leader of the Popular Congress Party (PCP), Siddiq Al-Ahmar, has called for fostering the values of forgiveness and reconciliation in Sudan following the victory of the Sudanese Armed Forces in the “Battle of Dignity.”
In a social media post viewed by Sudanhorizon news outlet, Al-Ahmar stated, “Let us all think about what we will do the day after victory is achieved. The first requirement is to win humbly, to bow before God, the Giver of victory, and to strive for justice. We must avoid judging people based on suspicions and work diligently to uphold the principles of forgiveness, reconciliation, and reform for the sake of a nation that accommodates everyone, seeking reward from God, the Giver of victory and truth.”
Reflecting on the difficult times endured by the Sudanese people, Al-Ahmar acknowledged their resilience, patience, and unwavering faith that God grants victory and that truth will ultimately prevail, no matter how long it takes.
He added, “Looking back to the first day of the war and comparing it to today gives us reassurance that the Armed Forces are heading toward a great victory, relentlessly pursuing the rebellion, which is now leaderless, unsupported, and without reinforcements of men, fuel, weapons, or ammunition.”
Al-Ahmar called on the rebel leaders to surrender to preserve the lives of their remaining forces.
He continued, “The Sudanese people and freedom-loving individuals worldwide have followed the Battle of Dignity in Sudan, watching the Sudanese Armed Forces with admiration, respect, and appreciation as they engage in battle with wisdom, steadiness, and discipline. Many wonder how the army managed to overcome the rebel forces, which were initially trained, equipped, and trusted to protect strategic sites in Khartoum and other cities across Sudan, only to betray and rebel.”
He attributed the military’s progress toward victory to God’s favour and promise to thwart the schemes of traitors, the leadership’s prudence, the soldiers’ patience, the people’s solidarity with their armed forces, and the dedication of volunteers from day one to protect Sudan and sacrifice everything for its cause. He also praised the courage and steadfastness of the leaders, many of whom fell as martyrs, unwavering in their pursuit of justice.
