Al-Merrikh Withdraws from CECAFA Club Championship, Set to Depart for Kigali on Monday

Al-Merrikh SC has officially announced its withdrawal from the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, the East and Central African club football championship, which is scheduled to be held in Kigali, Rwanda, from July 24 to August 7.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the club’s management said the decision was made based on a recommendation from the team’s technical staff. Instead of participating in the tournament, the first team will hold a comprehensive training camp in Kigali to prepare for upcoming domestic, regional, and international competitions.

The club also confirmed that its newly signed foreign players are expected to arrive in Sudan on Saturday ahead of the team’s departure to Kigali on Monday for the preseason training camp.
