Minister of Human Resources Inspects Argeen Border Crossing

The Sudanese Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Mutasim Ahmed Saleh, inaugurated a comprehensive health camp, Friday, at the Argeen border crossing in the Northern State.
The camp, affiliated with the National Health Insurance Fund, provides primary healthcare services, urgent medical services, and basic medications. This initiative is part of the efforts of the federal government and the Northern State government to enhance the crossing’s preparedness to handle emergencies.
During the inauguration, accompanied by the representative of the Governor of the Northern State, Director General of Social Affairs Manal Makawi, and the crossing’s administration, the Minister emphasized that these projects are part of a package of immediate measures aimed at removing all obstacles facing returnees. He noted that coordination is ongoing with the Zakat Bureau and health authorities to provide additional rest areas and waiting rooms at the Argeen and Ashkeit border crossings, through joint coordination mechanisms that ensure swift implementation.
During his field visit, the Minister inspected the progress of work at the Argeen border crossing to ensure the smooth implementation of the voluntary return programs for Sudanese citizens returning to their homes, in accordance with the Ministry’s operational plan and in coordination with local authorities.
The Minister and his accompanying delegation, along with a representative of the Governor of the Northern State, toured the service facilities at the crossing. He was briefed on the main challenges facing the registration process for returnees and directed that immediate solutions be implemented to remove all obstacles. He emphasized the adoption of new coordination mechanisms between the Halfa locality, the Zakat Bureau, and the Health Insurance Authority to improve the crossing’s performance.
The Minister announced to the returnees the establishment of well-equipped waiting areas, in coordination with the crossing’s administration and partner organizations, in accordance with the directives of the Government of Hope. He commended the efforts of the Northern State government and the voluntary return committees in facilitating logistical procedures.
