Federal Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Adam and the Acting Minister and Director General of the Khartoum State Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, Al-Tayeb Saad El-Din, participated today at the Youth and Children’s Palace in the sixth edition of the Ebhar International Puppet and Marionette Theatre Festival.

The festival was organized by Ebhar Organization for Literature and Arts in cooperation with the Youth and Children’s Palace, under the supervision of the Khartoum State Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism and with sponsorship from the General Intelligence Service.

Six Sudanese states participated in the event: Khartoum State, River Nile State, Red Sea State, Al Qadarif State, Kassala State, and North Darfur State.

The Federal Minister of Youth and Sports praised the organization of the festival at this time, noting that it reflects the return of cultural activities and demonstrates the Ebhar Organization’s commitment to children and the development of their talents. He added that his ministry would work alongside the Khartoum State Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism and the Higher Council for Youth and Sports to activate cultural and creative programs for young people.

For his part, Al-Tayeb Saad El-Din expressed the Khartoum State Government’s appreciation for the Ebhar Organization for Literature and Arts, which continued its activities throughout the war period through the contributions of children’s program pioneer Youssef Abdelqader, widely known by the nickname “Nukta.”

Saad El-Din emphasized the urgent need for attractive programs that help children overcome the isolation and social withdrawal associated with prolonged exposure to internet platforms, social media applications, and artificial intelligence. He stressed that supporting meaningful programs is a shared responsibility and is essential to preserving Sudanese identity and culture.

Meanwhile, Youssef Abdelqader, Executive Director of the Ebhar Organization, spoke about the festival’s objectives, noting that the event had originally been planned with participation from several countries. However, he said the involvement of Sudanese states highlights the festival’s significance. The three-day event will feature a variety of puppet and marionette theatre performances and artistic productions.
