Djibouti Opens Its Embassy in Port Sudan

On Tuesday, Djibouti inaugurated its new embassy headquarters in the Airport District of the administrative capital, Port Sudan. The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Amin, and several heads and representatives of diplomatic missions in Port Sudan.
Ambassador Hussein Amin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, congratulated the Djiboutian Embassy on joining the group of embassies operating from the temporary capital, Port Sudan. He stated, “The presence of Djibouti’s embassy among us represents moral support for Sudan,” and also congratulated Djibouti on its election to the chairmanship of the African Union Commission.
In his speech during the ceremony, the Deputy Minister added, “We appreciate Djibouti’s support for Sudan, but we regret that some countries, which we considered brothers and friends, have sided with the rebel militia and opposition seeking to prolong the war.”
Ambassador Hussein Amin highlighted the victories achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces and supporting forces in recent periods, as well as the political developments on the ground, including the amendment of the constitutional document and the formation of a technocratic government soon, all of which are of interest to the diplomatic community.
For his part, Ambassador Issa Khairi Rowabla, Djibouti’s Ambassador to Sudan, stated in a remark to SUNA that Sudan and Djibouti share distinguished, longstanding, and eternal relations and agree on many issues in international forums. He also pointed to cooperation in several fields.
