Darfur Governor: Food Drop Mission for El Fasher Residents a UN Mission

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
Darfur Governor Minni Arko Minawi said that the Sudanese government is making every effort to provide humanitarian aid to the region’s residents.
He continued in a post on his Facebook and Twitter accounts: “The Sudanese government is doing the impossible to drop food and medicine supplies to the people of El Fasher, Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps, and other camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) besieged by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), backed by UN member states.”
He continued: “The RSF militias are shooting down aircraft carrying out a humanitarian mission to support the afflicted, and the international community is failing to implement UN Resolution 2736, which calls for lifting the siege of El Fasher.”
He added: “The mission to drop these supplies is purely a UN mission.”
Two days ago, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, met with United Nations agencies operating in Sudan and informed them of the need to fully fulfill their role in delivering humanitarian aid to displacement camps around El Fasher and to name any party obstructing this humanitarian effort explicitly.
