Senior diplomatic sources told the Sudanhorizon News website that Sudan will deliver its speech before the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly at its headquarters in New York in its (79) session on the 26th of this September.
The sources added that Sudan’s speech will be delivered before the General Assembly by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, who is expected to arrive in New York City on the twenty-fourth of this month.
The sources expected that Sudan’s speech will include the latest developments in the humanitarian and political situation in Sudan against the backdrop of the rebellion taking place in the country that the state has been fighting for more than a year, and review the extent of the violations and crimes committed by the Rapid Support Militia in Sudan and its people, and how the support that some countries in the region have continued to provide to the militia was a major reason for prolonging the war.
Last weekend, Port Sudan received a high-level delegation from the international organization headed by the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, accompanied by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General, Ramtane Lamamra. The delegation held several meetings with state officials, headed by the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. These meetings discussed the concerns of the international organization in Sudan, especially in the humanitarian aspects and the ceasefire.
Preparatory work for the next session will begin on the twentieth and twenty-first of September, while the “high-level work” for the session will begin on the twenty-fourth of September. The next session has been called the “Future Summit” because its agenda revolves around finding a new international consensus on how to achieve a better present while protecting the future.
