A Sudanese National Wins Architectural Award in Japan

The Sudanese Ambassador to Japan, Al-Rayah Haidoub, has received Dr. Yassin Mohamed Ibrahim Idris, one of the most prominent Sudanese professionals residing in Japan, at his office in Tokyo on Friday. Dr. Idris is the winner of the 2026 AIJ (Association of Japanese Architects) Award. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Ambassador, Counselor Ali Mohamed Ahmed Osman.
Ambassador Haidoub welcomed Dr. Idris and presented him with a certificate of appreciation from the embassy, celebrating his winning the prestigious award. The award recognizes his valuable contributions to the design of environmentally friendly, carbon-neutral buildings that align with modern initiatives and environmental requirements for buildings that reduce energy consumption and contribute to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions responsible for climate change.
During the meeting, Ambassador Haidoub expressed his delight at this significant achievement, praising the academic and professional excellence of Sudanese nationals in Japan and expressing his pride in their positive reputation among the Japanese people. He also expressed his hope that Sudanese professionals in Japan and around the world would contribute to strengthening reconstruction and development programs in Sudan, especially after the extensive damage inflicted on infrastructure by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
For his part, Dr. Yassin Mohamed Ibrahim Idris emphasized the importance of their role in strengthening bilateral relations with Japan through public diplomacy, stressing their readiness to exert every effort to contribute to Sudan’s reconstruction.
