“SABA” Organization Launches Emergency Department Rehabilitation at Ibrahim Malik Hospital

The General Directorate of Development at the Ministry of Health of Khartoum State handed over Ibrahim Malik Referral Hospital to the implementing contractor affiliated with the SABA Organization, in preparation for the start of rehabilitation works following the extensive damage caused by attacks by the Rapid Support Forces militias. The handover took place under the supervision of the ministry and in the presence of leaders from the state’s health sector and the organization.

The Director of the General Directorate of Curative Medicine, Dr. Ahmed Al-Bashir, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the SABA Organization, commending its continued efforts and tangible achievements in supporting the health sector in Khartoum State. He affirmed that Ibrahim Malik Hospital is a key medical destination for state residents, and that the partnership with the organization represents a real addition toward restoring health services at the hospital following the destruction it sustained.

For his part, the Country Director of the SABA Organization, Dr. Faisal Ahmed Al-Nour, confirmed that the organization’s intervention at Ibrahim Malik Hospital represents a first step in Khartoum locality, beginning with the rehabilitation of the Emergency Department and the Pediatrics Department. He noted that interventions would expand under the 2026 plan to include Jebel Aulia and Soba hospitals, stressing the organization’s commitment to being a key partner in supporting the state’s health system.

Dr. Faisal explained that the SABA Organization has implemented a number of projects in recent years to rehabilitate health centers and hospitals in Khartoum State, noting that the rehabilitation project for Ibrahim Malik Hospital’s Emergency Department is estimated to cost USD 552,000, with completion expected within three months.

In the same context, the Director General of Ibrahim Malik Hospital, Dr. Mohamed Saeed, praised the organization’s clear contributions at both the state and hospital levels, emphasizing that Ibrahim Malik Hospital’s Emergency Department is among the largest emergency departments in Sudan, and that its rehabilitation represents a pivotal step in improving health services provided to citizens.
