The Sudanese Doctors Network has reported that nine people were killed and 17 others, including medical personnel, injured in artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on Sunday. The shelling targeted Dilling Military Hospital and several civilian sites in South Kordofan.
In a statement, the network indicated that the Al-Karoul and Al-Samasim areas south of Dilling were also targeted. The network condemned this as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits targeting health and civilians facilities .
The network denounced the systematic targeting of health institutions and their personnel, holding the RSF leadership fully responsible for these crimes and their serious humanitarian and health consequences.
The network called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to protect civilians and medical facilities, ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and lift the siege on South Kordofan State. It also urged increased pressure on the RSF leaders responsible for these deliberate violations.
