Sudan Rejects Any Proposed Solutions Without Prior Consultation
Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
Foreign Minister and Minister of International Cooperation, Mohi El-Din Salem, has stressed that Sudan, its people, government, and army, will not accept any proposals being imposed upon them without prior consultation and consideration of their views.
The minister emphasized the Sudanese people’s rejection of any attempt to refer to the militia by any name other than its current one.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the minister underlined the need for the international and regional community to designate the militia as a “terrorist militia” and to deal with its mercenaries, who are currently fighting the people, in accordance with international laws and norms.
The Foreign Minister reiterated the government’s rejection of any attempt to refer to the Sudanese Armed Forces by any name other than their established one or to attribute them to any political entity. He indicated that any interference in Sudanese affairs is completely unacceptable and rejected.
He affirmed the Sudanese commitment to implementing all provisions of the Jeddah Agreement, brokered by Saudi Arabia and the United States. He said the government noted that the agreement’s outcomes were clear, but the rebel militia would not abide by them given the lack of action from any regional or international body to compel their implementation. The government pointed out that the army had enforced the agreement’s provisions by force through its victories across the country.
Salem clarified that the government would not accept the agreement’s provisions being disregarded or others interfering in Sudanese affairs without consulting it.
He emphasized that Sudan was ready to engage with anyone genuinely seeking peace in the country and to reach a comprehensive peace agreement, not a partial one that would reignite the war.
